Look how pretty that brocade it! It just shines perfectly and adds enough visual interest to keep the dress intriguing while still remaining simple.

Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were very simple! I also omitted the attached petticoat, opting instead to just use one of my many already made ones.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I loved how simplistic the pattern is for how striking the silhouette is. It’s a great pattern for a quick sew (once you get the fit right) and stitches up cleanly.

Fabric Used:
I used poly brocade (3.75 yards that I’ve had for over 10 years), poly satin for the facing (.5 yards that I’ve had for 2 years), and 1 yard of cotton for the lining that I’ve had for a year left over from mask making.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made rather significant adjustments to the upper bodice. I lengthened above the bust by 5/8″ all the way around. I then graded in an inch below the bust to accommodate my bust. It’s clear this pattern was meant for someone shorter and smaller busted. For reference, I’m 5’9″ with a 34F bust.

I also added pockets, because pockets.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would LOVE to sew this again! It was so simple and quick! The dress took all of about 10 hours to make and it comes out so precious!

Conclusion:
Like all of Gertie’s patterns I’ve tried, you just can’t go wrong. Do yourself a solid and find this out-of-print pattern if you can.
