Pattern Review: Simplicity 9233
Pattern Description:
Misses’ tops with sleeve variations & neck closure with ties or elastic loop & buttons.
Pattern Sizing:
Sz. 16-24 (I cut a straight 18 though with how much ease there is, I could easily have cut a 16 with no worries)
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were simple, though this is a fairly standard construction. Nothing is really out of the ordinary. The only thing that was weird was sewing your gather stitches and then NOT gathering for another 12 steps. Lol.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I LOVE the sleeves and the depth of the front slit. The lantern sleeves hide my hefty arms and I couldn’t be happier with them. That front slit sits well on the sternum and just hints at skin. Love, love, love.
Fabric Used:
The plaid is cotton voile, the black is a lightweight poly satin. I also used recycled buttons (from a dead cardigan), and pearl cotton thread for the button loops.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
All I did was color block it. I also used a French tack style crochet thread cord thingy-techinquey-dohicky to make my button loops.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I’m literally planning another one as I write this. I wanna make a slinky-silky one because this just flows so well.
Conclusion:
Adorable. Works well tucked in and untucked. Disguises problem areas like a pro and is comfy to boot. 10/10 do recommend.
