Shimmering Sunset

For my birthday, my wonderful husband gifted me 5 yards of this incredible color shifting metallic fabric. I’d been dying to work with this type of fabric for years, having seen it used in cosplays, most often for Sleeping Beauty. In true millennial form, I requested this rose-gold colorway. Beside the fabric being a bit scratchy on the edges, almost like wearing wool against bare skin, it’s quite comfortable. The fabric is double-faced, so the back is black woven of some kind.

The dress was made from Vogue 9292, which I can honestly say gave me a few troubles. Once those woes were figured out, it was smooth sailing. I love the pockets, and that it has two modesty panels to choose from: the one pictured and a self-fabric version. While I’m a bit disappointed in the wrinkling seams, overall, I’m quite proud of the shimmering effect I have when wearing the dress. It’s just fun.
