Hawaiian Vibes Only

A lovely friend of mine gifted me a few yards of this bold Hawaiian print cotton from her time on the islands. While the yardage was not quite enough for a dress, I figured I could block it with a solid white to stretch what I did have. The white fabric is just a simple cotton voile.

I used Simplicity 9329 with little alteration. Though, at times, it proved quite persnickety, specifically in the elastic shoulders. Once that was managed, the surplice bodice came to life. That, combined with big puffy sleeves, pockets, and a scandalous back, makes for a perfect summer dress.
