1960’s Sleeping Beauty-Inspired Dress
Sleeping Beauty, aka Aurora, aka Briar Rose, sings my favorite Disney song of all time: Once Upon a Dream. While this dress is inspired by her (Make it pink! No, make it blue!), it is in no way a Disneybound. It’s more an ode to the fun one can have with 1960’s sheath dresses. From the petal collar (that Simplicity 9104 actually came with), to the funky double-hem with its hand-tacked disks, to the patch pockets, there was a surprising amount of detail I was able to create with something so simple looking.
The dress is made of blue linen, pink metallic linen/cotton blend, and white cotton embroidered Swiss dot voile. The latter two fabrics were remnants of my Eilonwy cosplay.
