This is Queen Iduna, Anna and Elsa’s mom from Frozen. The creation of this costume was a mildly horrifying experience that I’m sure I’ll laugh about some day.
The 1st bodice had to be remade due to errors. Then the whole dress had to be remade (including that new bodice). Ripped it apart, including three hem bands of satin stitching! BUT! In the full remake I reinforced and lined the bodice, changed/ fixed the fashion fabrics, and corrected the dags on the hem.
The court train: I draped it, sewed it, finished everything except bands and belt. It was terrible – it was one solid piece for the train darted into the waist band. Ripped it apart and had *just enough* fabric to re-cut/ sew. The hem bands went on surprisingly without issue – it’s one solid strip cut to the shape of the train out of the velvet, piped in blue, rat-tailed in green with a center band of taffeta that is cricuted and stoned for the correct patterning. Phew!
Through it all, my husband (stellar photographer and Cricut guru) was supportive and patient despite a looming deadline of remaking the whole thing in 7 days. WE did it. All the cricut detail was designed, cut, and applied by him!
