Peggy Carter is a hero of mine – fierce, strong, compassionate, and a total badass feminist. Portraying her from the original movie in her SSR uniform was both an impulse and a dream.
The suit itself is made of wool serge – so basically I can withstand a blizzard in this cosplay. The shirt is silk/rayon blend underlined with taffeta (regular interfacing did not create the proper look in testing). The buttons are indeed real US Army issued, sourced from Ebay.
You’ll notice the rare photos in here with my real hair! Those were taken at the beginning of my cosplay journey back in 2015 at the National Tidal Basin in DC. The wigged photos were taken at the National Mall during Awesome Con weekend in 2018. To date, this cosplay remains my hardest one to pose – Peggy is such a nuanced character that dramatic posing seems inappropriate, but it is so easy to fall into a rut of not enough life.
