Linen Petal Dress

It’s been a while since I made anything with linen! And usually, it’s found as some part of my support structure as a utility fabric. My friends only use it for historical costumes, so when I whipped this one out, I got a bunch of “I never thought to do that!”

Linen is great because it’s slightly hydrophobic, breathes, and although on the heavy side, drapes well and feels light against the skin. The dress features machined decorative stitches on the skirt seams, sleeve hems, and bodice. A gathered keyhole neckline completes the vintage/worldly feel. Keep an eye out for the blog on this one with detailed shots of how the petal skirt was created!

I feel a bit Indiana-Jonesy!
